By focusing on remediating lakes and potentially oceans, BlueGreen is generating highly desirable blue carbon credits, i.e., carbon captured and stored in coastal and marine ecosystems. These ecosystems are highly efficient at sequestering and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and supporting them has a major benefit for the environment.

By eliminating harmful algae, thus allowing other beneficial organisms to flourish, BlueGreen's treatments have a major impact on biodiversity, which is now recognized as equally important to GHGs, as discussed at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15., 2022)

People around the world rely on water bodies for their livelihoods - especially those communities living in close proximity to rivers, lakes, oceans, and other aquatic environments. Economic activities linked to water bodies include fishing, agriculture, leisure, and tourism. By remediating water bodies, thus restoring livelihoods and improving the lives of local populations, BlueGreen is generating social carbon credits.

Some HABs introduce toxins into the water, adversely affecting the health of any life forms that interact with or ingest the contaminated water. Additionally, the absorption of these toxins by water-borne flora and fauna can pose health risks that extend throughout the food chain. By eliminating HABs from waterbodies, BlueGreen safeguards the health of organisms living in or dependent on these aquatic environments.
